Filesharing: Darknets verzeichnen massiven Zulauf

Die großflächige Überwachung von BitTorrent und die zunehmenden Abschaltungen von Filehosting-Diensten treiben die Nutzer nun in größerer Zahl in dezentrale, anonymisierte Filesharing-Systeme. Der Dienst RetroShare verzeichnet beispielsweise aktuell eine schnell steigende Zahl von Datenübertragungen.

RetroShare besteht aus zahlreichen kleinen Netzwerken zwischen Usern, die sich gegenseitig kennen. Neue Nutzer können hinzukommen, indem mit einem bereits aktiven User ein PGP-Zertifikat ausgetauscht wird. Anschließend lassen sich Daten über OpenSSL-verschlüsselte Verbindungen austauschen, wobei die Herkunft jeweils nur bis zum nächsten befreundeten Knoten nachvollzogen werden kann.

Es handelt sich also quasi um ein Darknet, dessen Struktur und Aktivitäten für Außenstehende im Grund kaum nachvollziehbar sind. Die Open Source-Software existiert bereits seit dem Jahr 2006, konnte sich bisher aber nie einen größeren Nutzerkreis erschließen. Das könnte sich nun allerdings ändern, berichtet das Magazin 'TorrentFreak'.

"Das Interesse an RetroShare ist in den letzten zwei Monaten massiv gestiegen", erklärte der Projektgründer DrBob. Als die Auseinandersetzung um das SOPA-Gesetz in den USA auf seinem Höhepunkt war, hatten sich die Download-Zahlen verdreifacht. Im Februar verdoppelten sie sich erneut. Aktuell verzeichnet man etwas das Zehnfache dessen, was noch im Dezember gemessen wurde.

RetroShare ist derweil nur eines von verschiedenen Projekten, die sich mit dem Aufbau von Peer-to-Peer-Netzen befassen, die von außen nicht anzugreifen oder auszuspähen sind. Ein weiteres Beispiel ist GNUnet, in das sich Anwender einfacher einklinken können. Hier ist die längerfristige Nutzung allerdings stärker auf eine aktive Beteiligung ausgelegt, in dem man selbst Inhalte anbietet und seine Kontakte über Bewertungen ausbaut. Es zeichnet sich aber ab, dass letztlich eine anonymisierte und verschlüsselte Infrastruktur entstehen wird, die Filesharing vor den Augen der Strafverfolgung entzieht.
