Die Qualität der erstellten Dokumente ist dabei ähnlich hoch wie bei den Produkten von Adobe. Zum weiteren Funktionsumfang von PDFCreator gehört eine 128-Bit-Verschlüsselung, die die Dateien vor unerwünschten Zugriffen schützt. Auch eine Bündelung mehrerer Dokumente zu einer PDF-Datei ist möglich.

Windows Dateivorschau für PDF Dateien

Diese Version bringt eine neue Komponente für Windows, mit der eine Dateivorschau für PDF Dateien bereitgestellt wird. Viele Nutzer haben sich dieses Feature gewünscht, da Sie keine zusätzliche Software dafür installieren möchten. Wir haben die Dateivorschau basierend auf dem PDF24 Reader implementiert, die uns in der aktuellen ersten Version schon sehr gut gefällt. Die Vorschau ist schnell und benötigt relativ wenig Ressourcen. Sie funktioniert im Windows Explorer und auch in Outlook.

Reader: Optimierter UI-Start

Wir haben den PDF24 Reader auch dahingehend optimiert, sodass auch nur die UI Elemente geladen werden, die auch sichtbar sind und in der aktuellen Ansicht benötigt werden. Dies spart Ressourcen und führt zu einem schnellere Start der UI.

Reader: Lesezeichenbereich verbessert

Der Lesezeichenbaum wird nun bei Bedarf geladen und auch nur die Elemente, die benötigt werden, was das Laden von PDFs mit großen Lesezeichenbäumen beschleunigt und den Speicherverbrauch reduziert. Wir haben eine recht umfangreiche Testdatei, die mit dem neuen PDF24 Reader nun deutlich schneller lädt als vorher und es wird deutlich weniger Speicher benötigt.

Ebenfalls wird ein etwas größer Einzug bei Kindelementen im Seitenbaum verwendet, damit die Struktur besser zu sehen ist.

Das Wurzelelement bzw. der erste Eintrag im Wurzelelement wird jetzt zudem auch nur dann geöffnet, wenn es nur ein Kindelement gibt. Hat das Wurzelelement mehrere Kinder, dann verbleiben diese geschlossen. Im Endeffekt hat das damit zu tun, wie der Seitenbaum erstellt wurde.

Reader: Fehler bei der Wortmarkierung per Doppelklick behoben

Per Doppelklick auf ein Wort in der Seite kann dieses markiert werden. Hier gab es in einer bestimmten Konstellation ein Problem im alten Reader, welches nun behoben wurde.

Problem mit Passworteingabefelder bei der Windows Vorschau behoben

In der PDF Vorschau im Windows Explorer wurden Passworteingabefelder hinter dem Explorer Fenster geöffnet, sodass man dieses Eingabefeld nicht gesehen hat. Hier haben wir verbessert und das Problem sollte gelöst sein.

Focus Problem im PDF24 Reader behoben

Beim normalen Öffnen einer PDF-Datei im PDF24 Reader wurde der Fokus nicht mehr auf die neu geöffnete PDF-Datei gesetzt, sodass man in das Ansichtsfenster klicken mussten, damit die Hotkeys funktionieren. Dieses Problem ist behoben.

Konsolenmodus von pdf24-Ocr.exe und pdf24-DocTool.exe verbessert

Bei der Verwendung von pdf24-Ocr.exe und pdf24-DocTool.exe auf der Konsole gab es immer noch Probleme mit der Eingabeaufforderung, die nicht korrekt in der Konsole angezeigt wurde, nachdem die Ausführung beendet wurde. Hier haben wir ebenfalls verbessert. Wir senden nun ein VK_RETURN an die übergeordnete Konsole, um die Eingabeaufforderung nach Beendigung des Prozesses anzuzeigen.

Platzhalter $fileDir beim automatischen Speichern verfügbar

Die Funktion zum automatischen Speichern beim PDF Drucker hat jetzt den Platzhalter $fileDir erhalten. Dieser Platzhalter speichert das Verzeichnis der gedruckten Datei. Der Name war vorher schon vorhanden, das Verzeichnis aber nicht. Das Verzeichnis, welches in $fileDir gespeichert wird, ist aber nur dann vorhanden bzw. nicht leer, wenn dieses Verzeichnis auch beim Name des Druckauftrags vorhanden ist. Wenn der Name des Druckauftrags der vollständige Pfad zu einer Datei ist, dann steht das Verzeichnis zur Verfügung und wird in $fileDir gespeichert.

PDF Dateien in der selben Reader-Instanz öffnen

In dieser Version wurde der PDF24 Reader erweitert und um die Funktion ergänzt, dass mehrere PDF Dateien in der selben Instanz geöffnet werden können. Diese Funktion haben sich einige Nutzer gewünscht. Immer wenn in einem Reader mehrere Dateien geöffnet sind, dann wird eine Reiter-Leiste eingeblendet, mit der man zwischen den Dateien wechseln kann. Per Kontextmenü eines Reiters kann man diese Datei dann auch wieder in einer anderen Instanz öffnen.
