PDFCreator ist ein kostenloses Programm, mit dem sich Dokumente eines jeden Windows-Programms als PDF-Datei speichern lassen. Es wird dazu als Drucker in das System eingebunden und erlaubt so die Ausgabe in eine PDF-Datei.

Die Qualität der erstellten Dokumente ist dabei ähnlich hoch wie bei den Produkten von Adobe. Zum weiteren Funktionsumfang von PDFCreator gehört eine 128-Bit-Verschlüsselung, die die Dateien vor unerwünschten Zugriffen schützt. Auch eine Bündelung mehrerer Dokumente zu einer PDF-Datei ist möglich.

Allgemein: Passwort Cache zur Verbesserung der Entschlüsselung

Eingegebene Passwörter werden intern im geöffneten Programm gespeichert, um diese dann automatisch zu verwenden, wenn weitere Dokumente geladen werden. Wenn mehrere Dokumente das selbe Passwort haben, dann muss für diese Dateien die Passworteingabe nicht erneut erfolgen.

Einstellungen: Problem mit doppelten Einträgen behoben

Im Einstellungsbereich PDF Drucker, Automatisches Speichern, Profile gibt es einen Reload Button. Die Verwendung von diesem Button hat zu doppelten Einträgen in der Auswahlbox geführt. Dieses Problem ist behoben.

Wird im Creator eine Datei per Kommandozeile geladen, dann wird der Ordner, in dem sich die Datei befindet, im Dateiexplorer angezeigt.

Die Minute im Datum war aufgrund einer falschen Formatierungsangabe nicht korrekt. Dieses Problem wurde behoben.

PDF Dateien mit speziellen Zeichen im Namen konnten bei manchen Systemen nicht geladen werden. Hier gab es ein Problem mit der Zeichenkodierung, die dazu geführt hat, dass diese Dateien nicht gefunden wurden. Dieses Problem ist behoben.

Die Freeware "PDF Split and Merge" fügt einzelne PDFs zusammen und umgekehrt. Sie haben mehrere Präsentationen als PDF vorliegen und müssen daraus eine einzelne erstellen - jedes PDF in die Ursprungsdatei zurückzuverwandeln, anschließend zusammenzufügen und danach erneut zu konvertieren gestaltet sich als mühselig und zeitintensiv.

Die Freeware "PDF Split and Merge" kürzt den Prozess ab, indem es bereits existierende PDFs über nur wenige Mausklicks trennt oder zusammenfügt.
