Miranda IM v0.8.17 beta #1 is a bug fix release for the 0.8.x branch.

However, this build contains a rewritten installer, so we need as many testers as possible. The new installer contains a portable installation mode that will extract Miranda without leaving any traces in the registry. It will allow Miranda to be installed directly to a USB drive without having to use a zip file. Please test both installation modes and give us your feedback on the forums.

Also, the installer is changing the default profile directory for Windows 9x and portable systems. So please be aware if you are creating a new installation, the profile directory is now moved. It will not affect users upgrading.
