StealthNet is based on the original RShare client and has been enhanced by a developer team who consists of Planet Peer community members. In comparison with the current RShare client StealthNet offers a lot of new features like download resuming (interrupted downloads can be resumed), multilanguage support, a search filter for several file types and much more.

In the early stages StealthNet was known as RShare Community Edition (RShare CE). However, due to several reasons we had to rename this project to its new name StealthNet. This is the reason why the RShare forums on the Planet Peer Board also have been renamed to RShare/StealthNet.

Both clients are open source and source code is available. They are released under the GPL.

FrostWire is an peer-to-peer file sharing program for the Gnutella and BitTorrent protocols. FrostWire is written in Java, and is a fork of LimeWire, another popular Gnutella client. The project was started in September 2005 by members of the LimeWire open-source community, after LimeWire's distributor considered placing "blocking" code, which it was developing in response to RIAA pressure and the threat of legal action, in light of the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in MGM Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd. When eventually activated, the code could block its users from sharing licensed files. FrostWire was first released in October 2005.

As with Limewire, FrostWire is written in Java, and so is capable of supporting multiple platforms. LimeWire is available in both free and paid versions, while FrostWire is released only as a free version. The FrostWire program includes all of the free LimeWire version's functionality, plus a few features of LimeWire Pro's fee based upgrade. FrostWire also provides a chatroom which is absent in LimeWire. FrostWire's interface is nearly identical to that of LimeWire's since it's based on the same code base, however, the color scheme is slightly different as is shown in the picture above. As in LimeWire, the FrostWire skin may also be changed to a variety of different colors.

Er stellt eine verschlüsselte Verbindung zwischen 2 Parteien her. Gehste meinetwegen auf die Seite, gibst ein Lied frei und schickst den Link einem Freund.



Klickt der Freund den Link, so beginnt der Download – nicht über irgendwelche Onlinespeicher – sondern direkt von dir. Für größere Dateien gibt es einen Desktop-Client auf Basis von Adobe Air, sollte also unter Windows, Mac und Linux funktionieren. Über den Client könnt ihr auch ein Passwort vergeben. Vielleicht als Alternative für Menschen, die nicht Dropbox oder SugarSync nutzen…
