Tribler uses Tor-inspired onion routing to search and download torrents with fewer worries or censorship. Tribler is a research project of the Delft University of Technology. Tribler was created over nine years ago as a new open source Peer-to-Peer file sharing program. Similar to StrongDC++, ApexDC++ is a file sharing/peer-to-peer Windows software. Its architecture makes it possible to share files in Direct Connect networks via two protocols, namely NDMC and ADC.

While most people resort to torrent clients as a way to download and upload data, it has quickly developed a fan-base due to the fact that it is simpler to use and relies on a different type of sharing algorithm, considerably more advantageous in terms of transfer speeds.
