ExifTool kann mehr als nur Meta-Daten lesen und schreiben: Die von der Kamera gelieferten EXIF-Daten sind nicht immer korrekt, beispielsweise wenn das Kameradatum nicht stimmt oder der Kommentar noch auf den Vorbesitzer der Kamera hinweist. Solche Fehler korrigiert das Exif-Tool.

Die Sammlung von Perl-Skripten liest EXIF-, IPTC- und XMP-Daten und ändert diese auf Wunsch. Einen separaten Perl-Interpreter braucht man nicht. Für den vollen Funktionsumfang muss man sich mit der Kommandozeile vertraut machen, zum Korrigieren der Metadaten einzelner Bilder genügt das auf ExifTool aufsetzende ExifTool GUI.

Amount controls: when you click on the Amount square at the right of the control, the mask menu that drops down is now initially positioned to the second item. If there is no mask, this corresponds to New Mask… If there is a mask but no mask dialog box, this corresponds to Re-open Mask Dialog Box. If there is a mask but there is a mask dialog box, this corresponds to Reset. These common items are now easy to choose you can just double click on the mask menu to select them. When launching Picture Window via a command line, if the exit_when_done keyword is present, the program will exit after processing the last file in the command line. The Export transformation also has a new item in its settings menu to force its execution when it is run while loading a script or workspace script. These features combined are meant to allow Picture Window to be run from a Windows batch (.bat) file unattended.

ExifToolGui is a graphical interface for the already-known ExifTool application. It was created in order to make it easier for users to deal with its functions. Of course, this makes the original application more accessible to normal or casual users. The product has been slightly changed, so don't go expecting the app to be perfect. Still, it remains efficient and as far as I was concerned, the program did respond quickly and efficiently.
