Thema: Portable Software und Tools für USB-Sticks

Der Mensch ist ein Gewohnheitstier und auch ich habe ab und an Probleme, mich mit neuer Software anzufreunden. Das war damals beim CCleaner auch so. Während ich erst dachte: “wer braucht den Schrott?” ist er in den letzten Jahren für viele eines der liebsten Tools überhaupt geworden. Ähnliches gilt auch für die IObit Toolbox, eine kostenlose (portable) Ansammlung mehr oder weniger nützlicher Tools, die vorgestern in der neuen Beta 2.0 erschienen ist.

Neben einem System-Informationstool bekommt ihr auch viele, viele andere Helferlein an die Hand gegeben, die ihr alle unter einer Oberfläche, sortiert in Kategorien, vorfinden könnt.





Die einzelnen Tools machen einen vernünftigen und aufgeräumten Eindruck. Auch wenn man die Einzeltools nicht benötigt, kann man sich die IObit Toolbox ruhig auf den USB-Stick oder die Festplatte legen. Also: gibt von mir den Daumen nach oben.

Boah Leute, was für ein Versionssprung. Heute (besser gesagt gerade) erschien die neue Version des kostenlosen Verschlüsselungsprogramms für Windows, Mac OS X und Linux: TrueCrypt.



Das portable Paket funktioniert wie immer, alle aktuellen Dateien befinden sich im Download, auch das aktuelle deutsche Sprachpaket für TrueCrypt 7.0. Für relativ neue Leser dieses Blogs: ja, TrueCrypt kann auch so portable benutzt werden, mein Paket enthält allerdings zwei Batch-Dateien, mit denen ihr euren Container ratz fatz automatisiert in euer System einbinden beziehungsweise trennen können.

Highlight dürfte u.a die Hardware-beschleunigte AES-Verschlüsselung sein, die erstmals zu finden ist, allerdings benötigt ihr dazu einen aktuellen Prozessor wie den Intel i5 oder Intel i7.

Ausserdem neu in TrueCrypt 7.0: ihr könnt verschlüsselte Container auf USB-Sticks oder ähnlichen Geräten automatisch mounten, wenn ihr das Gerät an den Computer anschließt.

Also Leute, verschlüsselt ordentlich! TrueCrypt ist einfach zu bedienen und kostenlose Software. Wenn ihr schon nicht TrueCrypt nutzen wollt, dann benutzt wenigstens Windows BitLocker sofern eure Windows-Version dies unterstützt.

New In This Release

Toucan 3.0.2 is a bug fix release. A number of fixes are included, mainly targeting issues in Sync and specifically it's preview mode.

Please note existing 2.0 scripts are not compatible with Toucan 3, they will need to be rewritten in the new scripting language, for more information see the improved help system linked to in the help.html file in the root of your install.
