Nutzt ihr gelegentlich Google Earth, um unseren Planeten zu entdecken? Falls ja, dann habt ihr sicherlich zuviel Zeit. Spaß beiseite, Fans von Google Earth können die kostenlose Software aus dem Hause Google jetzt auch ohne Installation nutzen. Entweder auf dem heimischen Computer oder eben unterwegs auf dem USB-Stick. Benutzer mehrerer Computer könnten sich das Paket auch auf ein Netzlaufwerk legen und so immer und überall den gleichen Stand haben.

Portable Google Earth ist kein offizielles Produkt von Google, sondern eines Benutzers im Portable Apps-Forum. Portable Google Earth befindet sich zudem noch im Beta-Stadium. Zum Ausprobieren aber allemal geeignet, lief in meinen Tests 1a. Zur Downloadseite von Portable Google Earth.

Bitte beachten Sie:

Der USB-Stick-Starter benötigen das Microsoft .NET-Framework 2. Dieses wird normalerweise über die Windows Update-Funktion verteilt und ist unter Windows Vista vorinstalliert, muss jedoch unter Windows XP und 2000 noch installiert werden. Sollte beim Start der Programme eine Fehlermeldung erscheinen, müssen Sie erst das Microsoft .NET-Framework 2 installieren.

What's New in the Format and Installer?

Full Armenian language support has been added. A bug preventing the use of spaces in Optional component names and registry entries has been fixed. A bug preventing the use of local file copies has been fixed. Language source files are no longer included in packaged apps by default.

For existing apps - This new updater version will automatically update your application to the new 2.0 format. The one exception is the new appicon_128.png within AppInfo, a new 128px PNG icon for future use. Though not required, it is suggested that all publishers include this from now on.

    * Task Coach would fail to save the task file correctly, when it couldn't read temporary files for email attachments. (2369711)
