Die Freeware "McAfee AVERT Stinger" bietet zwar keinen allumfassenden Virus-Schutz, doch ist sie durchaus nützlich, wenn der Computer schon infiziert ist.

Die Handhabung der Freeware ist denkbar einfach. "McAfee AVERT Stinger" startet ohne Installation direkt nach einem Doppelklick auf die heruntergeladene EXE-Datei. Starten Sie nun den Scanvorgang, indem Sie auf den Button »Scan Now« klicken. Werden Viren & Würmer aufgespürt, werden diese nach Möglichkeit sofort bereinigt.

PaperBack lets you back up files to ordinary paper in the form of the oversized bitmaps. If you have a good laser printer with the 600 dpi resolution, you can save up to 500KB of uncompressed data on a single A4/Letter sheet. With integrated compression, up to 3MB can be stored on one sheet of A4/Letter paper. For data restoration, you will need a scanner with physical resolution that is 3-times the print resolution.

Kurz mal überschlagen:

Für eine Vollsicherung meines Rechners #1 bräuchte ich unkomprimiert etwa 2,7 Millionen Seiten, also ggf. doppelseitig 1,35 Millionen Blatt, oder 2700 Packungen Druckerpapier.
Mal mindestens 3 Euro pro Paket.
Und wohl eine ähnlich hohe Anzahl an schwarzen Patronen.
Selbst bei Billigst-Tinte zu knapp 50 Cent kein Pappenstiel.
Diese Anzahl Seiten auszudrucken, würde in der Praxis ein paar Jahre dauern, bei 24/7 Einsatz.
Und ein paar Dutzend Drucker verbrauchte ich so sicher auch.
Selbst mit Kompression würde das kaum besser, denn die größte Datenmenge besteht hier aus MPEG2 und h.264, wo eine verlustfreie weitere Kompression kaum noch etwas bringen kann.

Da ziehe ich insofern meine bisherige Strategie mit externen Festplatten weiterhin vor.

Aber vielleicht kann man ja eines Tages mit einem 3D-Drucker Fäden mit DSL-ähnlicher komplexer Dicken-Modulation erzeugen und fein aufwickeln.
Dann lassen sich bestimmt etliche Megabyte auf einer alten Super8-Spule lagern...  
Es soll auch schon Versuche gegeben haben, einen modernen grafikfähigen Toaster zur Datenspeicherung zu verwenden
