Die finale Version für USB-Sticks halt ...

Die Entwickler aus dem Hause Opera haben heute ihren gleichnamigen Browser in der Version 10.51 veröffentlicht. Mit dem Update werden zahlreiche Bugs beseitigt, die sich in die neue Version 10.50 eingeschlichen hatten.

Vor allem der integrierte E-Mail-Client stand im Fokus der Entwickler. Aber auch die allgemeine Stabilität und Performance konnte verbessert werden. Speziell JavaScript-Animationen sollten flüssiger ablaufen, da Optimierungen an den Timern vorgenommen wurden. Weitere Verbesserungen betreffen die Customization-Features sowie Opera Link.

Mit Opera 10.50 wurde eine neue JavaScript-Engine namens Carakan eingeführt, die den Browser an die Spitze der meisten Browser-Benchmarks katapultiert hat. Zudem wird HTML 5 unterstützt, so dass eine native Videowiedergabe möglich wird. Veränderungen gibt es aber nicht nur unter der Haube. Die Menüleiste wurde durch einen zentralen Button ersetzt, der mit der Office-Schaltfläche aus Office 2007 vergleichbar ist.

Die neue Grafikbibliothek Vega soll eingebettete Bilder zügiger darstellen. Wenn ein privater Tab geöffnet wird, speichert Opera die dort entstehenden Verlaufs- und Formulardaten nicht. Zudem passt sich die neue Opera-Version besser an die Neuerungen in Windows 7 an. So kann man über die Jump-Listen in der Taskleiste Speed-Dial-Funktionen und Tabs aufrufen.
