Balabolka is a feature-rich program to read text aloud from a variety of file types including DOC, RTF, PDF, ODT, FB2 and HTML. The program uses Microsoft's own Speech API 4 and 5, but lets you fine tune various voice parameters, including rate and pitch, and a substitution list can also be applied to improve the quality of the voice's articulation. The program supports customized font and background color, skins, control reading from the system tray or by the global hotkeys.

Balabolka can also save the synchronized text to external LRC files or in MP3 tags inside the audio files. When the audio file is played with players on a computer or on modern digital audio players, the text will be displayed synchronously (in the same way as lyrics for songs).

Also includes batch conversion tools from of a wide variety of document formats to audio or plain text and a file compare tool, file splitter, and screen magnification window.

    A new 'cover grid' view of the books in your calibre library

    Excellent for judging your books by their covers To use click the button with the icon of a grid in the bottom right corner of the main window. It can be configured via Preferences->Look & Feel->Cover Grid
    A new, faster database backend

    The database backend in calibre has been re-written from scratch. The new code is smaller, more robust and much faster than the old code. The exact speedup will depend on the number of books and number and type of custom columns in your library. Users have reported calibre startup times decreasing by a factor of 2-3 times.

Ghostscript erstellt PostScript- sowie PDF-Dateien und bereitet diese für Bildschirmansicht und Druck auf. Auch eine Konvertierung von PostScript-Dateien in PDF-Dokumente und gängige Bildformate ist mit dem Tool möglich. Die etwas umständliche Bedienung per Kommandozeile lässt sich mit grafischen Bedienoberlächen wie GSView oder GhostView umgehen. Ghostscript harmoniert prima mit FreePDF XP zum kostenlosen Erstellen von PDF-Dokumenten.

HTTrack is a free (GPL, libre/free software) and easy-to-use offline browser utility. You can download the contents of entire web sites from the Internet to a local directory for offline viewing. HTTrack allows you to download a World Wide Web site from the internet to a local directory, building recursively all directories, getting HTML, images, and other files from the server to your computer. HTTrack arranges the original site's relative link-structure.

Simply open a page of the "mirrored" website in your browser, and you can browse the site from link to link, as if you were viewing it online. HTTrack also can update existing mirrored sites and resume interrupted site downloads. It crawls M3U and AAM files and can cache to a ZIP file. It also handles CSS. HTTrack is fully configurable, and has an integrated help system. WinHTTrack is the Windows 9x/NT/2000/XP release of HTTrack, and WebHTTrack the Linux/Unix/BSD release.
