Pale Moon is the work of a single individual, using contributed Open Source code to create a full-featured, speed optimized version of the popular Firefox browser. Having seen the advantages on other systems (e.g. Linux) with regards to programs being compiled specifically for the capabilities of the machine it is installed on, it became obviously clear that Windows users were at a disadvantage: Mozilla only releases windows executables with maximum compatibility in mind, meaning that Firefox is made to run on as many different systems as possible, sacrificing efficiency and speed in the process to be compatible with, by current standards, absolutely ancient hardware.

grepWin durchstöbert Dateien und Ordner nach komplexen Begriffen und regulären Ausdrücken. Die Freeware ersetzt auf Wunsch automatisch alle Suchtreffer auf einen Schlag.

Die Suchergebnisse werden in Listenform angezeigt. Ein Doppelklick auf die gewünschte Datei öffnet diese. Die Suche lässt sich mit grepWin mit diversen Parametern auf bestimmte Dateien eingrenzen. Häufig gesuchte Ausdrücke kann der Anwender als so genanntes Bookmark abspeichern. So lassen sich wiederkehrende Suchen mit ein paar Klicks erneut ausführen.

grepWin integriert sich auf Wunsch in das Kontextmenü des Windows Explorers, was das Durchsuchen von Dateien und Ordnern noch schneller und komfortabler macht. Die aktuelle Version der Freeware bietet diverse neue Funktionen beim Suchen und Ersetzen. Die Freeware beachtet die Groß- und Kleinschreibung und sucht auf Wunsch nur nach bestimmten Dateigrößen.

FeedRoller unterstützt RSS- und Atom-Feeds. Der Twitter-Support wurde in der aktuellen Version wieder entfernt. Uhrzeit und Quelle der Nachricht blendet die Freeware zuverlässig ein und bietet auch verschiedene Darstellungsmöglichkeiten zur Auswahl.

So hat der Anwender bei FeedRoller die Wahl, ob die Nachrichten jederzeit im Vordergrund präsentiert werden sollen oder nur auf Abruf. Außerdem können längere Text als Laufschrift dargestellt werden. Der Text kann dabei jederzeit mit einem Druck auf die Pause-Taste angehalten werden.

Von Haus aus sind einige Feeds in FeedRoller bereits vorkonfiguriert. Natürlich lassen sich die Inhalte an die eigenen Wünsche anpassen, neue Nachrichtenquellen angeben oder bereits vorhandene löschen.
