This first beta in the 12.0 line is designed to test a new theme and menu layout change, updated branding that's more subtle and manual proxy support as well as begin our 'new beta every few days' march to 12.0 final later this month. Like previous releases, it has automated app updates, customizable folders (categories) in the menu, a full theming engine with multiple chrome styles, the Portable App Directory app store for automatic download and installation of portable apps, find-as-you-type search (just type / or F3) to easily find apps in your ever-growing collection, an improved updater, more-complete translations into more languages and lots more.

For 12.0, we're simplifying the branding on the PortableApps.com Platform to make it more subtle and modern. The logo is also changed on the taskbar and system tray We're also introducing a new default theme that's more modern and clean with simplified iconography. The new theme is not yet complete, but we have included both a light and dark version, replacing the existing Default Light and Default Dark themes included in 11.0 stable. (Don't worry, we'll be bringing back the existing themes in an upcoming release for those who like them). The space at the top where the large PortableApps.com logo used to be will be used by an always-visible search bar in the final release which will have focus by default, enabling find-as-you-type search without the need for a hotkey. We recommend gray for folks testing out the new theme. It's still a work in progress and we're still finalizing the layout and colors, but we wanted our users to get a chance to look at what's coming.

New color theme – new cloak for the application
Maybe You are already familiar with the color themes provided in older versions. In the actual version the color themes were re-worked in a way which should help in a more readable displaying of information - user will mainly find the changes in graphical modules like Performance, Networking and also in the CPU Usage tab of the Process detail. The change of the color theme can be done in Main menu->Options and on the first tab "General".

Updated Performance section
Performance module for previous versions displayed basic information about CPU, RAM and hard disc load. With a new rebuild module user will find the information in a new graphical arrange - all main information are displayed horizontally, supplemented with many additional information in the bottom of the module screen.

Improved Networking section
As a reflection to user needs, we have added new statistics in the Networking module. In the new design, more information is tracked for the global net traffic for user's computer. In the left part of the module's screen user can find statistics for data sent and received, related to a specific start point - with a new functionality user can reset the start point of the traffic tracking. Also there is a possibility to switch on or off the individual charts of traffic sources on a right mouse button. Information are displayed for active networks => networks without traffic are not displayed in the list.

Disk & Network Usage statistics
This statistics are displayed in Tasks and Processes sections and also in separate Disk Usage Statistics tray icon. Version 4.0 has this information hidden by default. If you want to enable it, you must check "Use Event Tracking for Windows" in Advanced section of System Explorer's Options.

Pale Moon is the work of a single individual, using contributed Open Source code to create a full-featured, speed optimized version of the popular Firefox browser. Having seen the advantages on other systems (e.g. Linux) with regards to programs being compiled specifically for the capabilities of the machine it is installed on, it became obviously clear that Windows users were at a disadvantage: Mozilla only releases windows executables with maximum compatibility in mind, meaning that Firefox is made to run on as many different systems as possible, sacrificing efficiency and speed in the process to be compatible with, by current standards, absolutely ancient hardware.

Wer sich einen Überblick über aktive Prozesse des Rechners und Servers verschaffen will, dem steht mit dem Process Explorer der Sysinternals Suite ein hilfreiches Tool zur Seite. Der Process Explorer liefert in zwei Fenstern die gewünschten Informationen. Dabei zeigt das obere immer die aktiven Prozesse mit zugehörigen Konten an, während in dem unteren abhängig vom gewählten Modus entweder die geöffneten Handles des ausgewählten Prozesses erscheinen oder die geladenen DLLs und Dateien mit zugewiesenem Speicher. Mit Hilfe der Suchfunktion lassen sich zudem Prozesse finden, die bestimmte DLLs und Dateien geladen haben.
