Die Entwickler des VLC-Players haben mit der neuen Version 1.0.3 Fehler beseitigt, die beim Einsatz unter Windows 7 entstanden. Unter 1.0.2 wurde die Bildqualität in manchen Fällen schlechter.

Die Windows-Version von VLC 1.0.3 soll nun alle technischen Voraussetzungen erfüllen, um mit Windows 7 kompatibel zu sein. Außerdem bekam der Mediaplayer neue Deinterlace-Filter basierend auf den Algorithmen yadif und yadif (x2) verpasst. Die schon für Version 1.0.2 angekündigte Unterstützung von WMA Professional funktioniert nun auch in den bereitgestellten Paketen.

Dadurch können Tondateien mit dem Codec WMA Professional nativ abgespielt werden. WMA Professional unterstützt Audio mit 24 Bit/96 kHz sowie 5.1- und 7.1-Kanalton.

Der VLC-Player 1.0.3 steht auf der Videolan-Projektseite als Binary für Windows und MacOS X sowie als Quellcode zum Herunterladen bereit. Durch die Updatefunktion werden Benutzer der Vorversion automatisch über die neue Version informiert.
