Apple hat eine neue Version seines Browsers Safari veröffentlicht. Die Ausgabe 5.0.5 beseitigt vorrangig zwei kritische Sicherheitslücken. Ansonsten bringt diese Ausführung laut Apple keine Neuerungen mit.

Zwei Sicherheitslücken in der Render-Engine WebKit nehmen sich die Entwickler aus Cupertino zum Anlass und haben das Update auf die Version 5.0.5 veröffentlicht. Wahlweise lässt sich die neue Version auch über den integrierten Updatemechanismus einspielen.

Den getroffenen Bekanntmachungen zufolge könnte der Besuch einer entsprechend manipulierten Webseite ausreichen, um den Browser abstürzen zu lassen oder möglicherweise Schadcode auf die Systeme der Opfer einzuschleusen.

Im März gelangte eine Reihe von SSL-Zertifikaten in die Hände von Kriminellen nach einem virtuellen Einbruch bei dem Herausgeber Comodo. Auf diese Thematik gehen die Entwickler in einem herausgegebenen Eintrag in der Knowledgebase näher ein.

Darin heißt es unter anderem, dass sich Safari diesbezüglich an den Einstellungen des jeweiligen Betriebssystems orientiert und letztlich entscheidet, ob ein SSL-Zertifikat vertrauenswürdig ist. Entsprechende Updates für Mac OS X und iOS hat das US-amerikanische Unternehmen selbst veröffentlicht.

Haben Windows-Nutzer hingegen die entsprechenden Updates eingespielt, so soll der hauseigene Browser die betroffenen SSL-Zertifikate ebenfalls als unvertrauenswürdig einstufen.

Befüllen Sie Ihren USB-Stick genau so, wie Sie es wünschen. Achten Sie aber zuvor darauf, den Listeneintrag "Enable files associations" dazu zu aktivieren.

Ein weiterer Vorteil von LiberKey besteht darin, dass über den Eintrag "Check software updates" automatisch alle verfügbaren Updates der einzelnen Programme angezeigt und installiert werden können.

Listary is an enhancement that allows you to quickly search almost any listing in Windows by simply typing your search terms. The program will pop up a small, semi-transparent window in Explorer windows (including open/save dialogs), Task Manager, Registry Editor, and even directly on your desktop. The program works with almost any application with a system-generated list.



Although some programs will automatically jump to the first letter you type (a find-as-you-type feature of Windows Explorer), you must type quickly for more than one letter and can't see your output. Listary brings a long-time feature of Linux to Windows, letting you enter whole words, and type slower with automatic changes. Additionally, it allows wildcards and has the ability to edit your input with immediate results.

Advanced features include hotkeys, autocomplete, blacklists, favorites, a customizable window. Note that the program contains many "pro"-only features, but the program is very functional in its basic version.
