SystemReport ermittelt Informationen über die Hardware, das Betriebssystem und die installierte Software. SystemReport besteht aus einzelnen Konsolenprogrammen, die auch einzeln ausgeführt werden können. Mit Batch-Dateien können die einzelnen Programme auch hintereinander und individuell anpassbar ausgeführt werden. Der Umgang mit den Konsolenprogrammen wird durch die enthaltene Benutzeroberfläche vereinfacht.

Nachdem die norwegische Browserschmiede Opera vor ungefähr drei Jahren eine erste Implementierung von 3D-Canvas gezeigt hat, steht nun eine Testversion von Opera 11 mit Unterstützung für WebGL und Hardwarebeschleunigung zum Download bereit.

WebGL ermöglicht die Darstellung von 3D-Grafiken im Browser, ohne dass zusätzliche Software benötigt wird. Da das API auf OpenGL ES 2.0 basiert, funktioniert WebGL auf zahlreichen Plattformen. Allein mit JavaScript-Code ist es möglich, eine 3D-Grafik mit Hardwarebeschleunigung im Browser anzuzeigen.

Seit geraumer Zeit arbeitet Opera an der hardwarebeschleunigten Darstellung von Websites. In einem Blog-Beitrag erklären die Entwickler, dass es ihnen wichtig war, dass man auch problemlos auf die softwaregestürzte Darstellung setzen kann, ohne von der Performance enttäuscht zu sein. Aus diesem Grund hatte man sich zunächst auf die Optimierung dieses Bestandteils gekümmert, bevor man sich nun in den letzten Wochen verstärkt um die Hardwarebeschleunigung bemüht hat.

Im Gegensatz zur Hardwarebeschleunigung im Firefox 4 und Internet Explorer 9 funktioniert die Technologie der Norweger nicht nur unter Windows 7 und Vista, sondern prinzipiell auf allen Systemen, die entsprechende Hard- und Software-Voraussetzungen erfüllen. Dazu gehören neben Windows XP auch Mac OS X und Linux. Man benötigt eine Grafikkarte mit Support für OpenGL 2.x sowie einen entsprechenden Treiber für das eingesetzte Betriebssystem.

Um zu überprüfen, ob die Hardwarebeschleunigung verwendet wird, genügt ein Blick in den Dialog opera:about. Hinter dem Eintrag sollte "OpenGL" stehen, falls die Websites mit Hilfe der Grafikkarte gerendert werden. Ist dies nicht der Fall, findet man an der Stelle den Eintrag "Software".

Yeah! Vor einiger Zeit schrieb ich ja mal über Portable Dropbox – ideal um seinen ganzen Kram immer auf dem USB-Stick mit herum zu tragen. Es gab dann irgendwie zwei oder drei Projekte, die allerdings irgendwie nicht mehr gewartet wurden und auch nicht mit den aktuellen Dropbox-Versionen funktionierten.



Doch wir können aufatmen, es gibt wieder ein Projekt, welches sich mit Portable Dropbox beschäftigt. Es heisst Dropbox Portable AHK und es funktioniert, wie ich eben feststellen konnte. Einrichtung ist ein No-Brainer. Portable Dropbox findet ihr im Dropbox-Forum. Viel Spaß damit
