Technical details

Crash happens when Opera 12.13 tries to do an update of multiple extensions. This happens on a manual "check for update", or in the background, when several extensions are due for update, some time after 12.13 has been downloaded.

We just released 12.14 final to our servers.
This fixes the autoupdate crash loop in 12.13 that would occur under certain circumstances. Unfortunately we did not catch this bug earlier, but we managed to narrow it down thanks to your feedback.
This is not the same build as yesterday's RC, but there are no code changes. We just had to rebuild to make sure Browser JS was included in the package.

We also was able to sneak in a fix for a crash that several users are reporting on hulu.com

Mobile Webseiten werden oft in der Entwicklung nur mit WebKit getestet, auf dem die Webbrowser für Android- und iOS-Systeme basieren. Darauf reagiert nun Opera: Künftig sollen die mobilen und Desktop-Browser der Firma auf Webkit bauen, JavaScript verarbeitet der in Chrome verbaute V8.

Abgezeichnet hatte sich diese Entwicklung bereits vor kurzer Zeit, als zur Präsentation von "Opera Ice" Webkit als Rendering Engine genannt wurde. Der neue mobile Browser soll laut einer Opera-Mitteilung auf dem Mobile World Congress in Barcelona präsentiert werden.
