Opera 54 arrives to the stable build today with News on Speed Dial, a feature which delivers the latest headlines from the countries and languages of your choice, directly to your browser’s start page.

Plus, a new menu page, called Update and Recovery, has been added to help simplify the browser update and recovery processes.

Thank you very much for your feedback about the bookmarks bar. Please help us to improve it.

There are two cases which will prevent unexpected changes to your bookmarks bar. The first is that you have manually turned off the bookmarks bar. The second case is that you have removed the suggested bookmark links which popped up recently.

If your bookmarks bar is still experiencing unexpected changes, please file a bug report so we can fix the problem for all users.

This update for Opera 54 beta also contains a few bug fixes, such as:

    Fix for renderer crash after changing zoom level on page
    Fix for the icon changing when renaming a folder in the bookmarks bar
    Fix for wrong Speed Dial title font colors

Tab Tiling gets an upgrade, with the ability to resize the tiles. We also added default keyboard shortcuts for moving tabs and fixed a number of annoying regressions.

Hi,

Today’s Opera 54 update is for the context menu for news articles on your Speed Dial. You will now see the correct context menu – with options to open in a new tab, window, private window, to edit or to move to trash – when right-clicking or Ctrl-clicking an article.
We are also pushing a fix for a crash which occurs when tab is detached while still loading content.

It’s time for our first update this week. This Opera 56 developer build contains a bunch of fixes and improvements for all platforms.

Nathan Oyama, r-dl, we’re happy to announce that we’ve fixed the bug with double-page navigation with mouse backward/forward buttons. Now using your navigation buttons on a mouse will correctly bring you backward or forward one page, and not two.
