Hello,

Today’s update for Opera 53 stable fixes an issue with Speed Dial folders doubling unexpectedly on the start page. Folders in your Speed Dial could have been duplicated if there was a server change or if the user added and rearranged folders then restarted the browser.

The fix for this bug will first be implemented for our Ukrainian users, where the problem frequently occurred. Upon its success in Ukraine, the fix will later be rolled out globally.

Hi,

it’s time for a Opera 54 beta update. In this build we have added some missing translations in areas of the browser, especially for the News on Speed Dial feature.

Also, we have enabled the narrow sidebar by default for macOS users. Users on any system can manage other sidebar options in Settings (Preferences on Mac) > Sidebar.

Chromium was updated to version 67.0.3396.62.

Hi,

This is a quick, second developer update for this week. There’s a new chromium version inside – 68.0.3440.15.

With this version, we’re turning on the bookmarks bar by default. There will be five suggested bookmarks in it, chosen based on the most popular pages in your country.

Of course, you can disable or later re-enable the bookmarks bar in settings, and edit or remove bookmarks in the bookmarks page.

To manage your bookmarks bar, go to Settings (Preferences on Mac) > Appearance and turn off or on Show bookmarks bar. To add, change, or remove bookmarks from the bookmarks bar, go to Bookmarks > Bookmarks Bar.
Known issue

There is an unrecoverable crashloop on Windows on some profiles. We had to roll Opera developer for Windows back to the previous version for now.

Following the new option to disable use of the Alt key for the menu, some users found the menu no longer worked at all. Here is a quick fix for that.

Hi,

this is a quick fix for Windows users to avoid installations problems. We’ve discovered some issues with profile folders after last beta update and with this build we repair them.

It will also fix a crash when when dragging bookmarks into a folder.
