Wem die Funktionen im Windows Live Messenger noch nicht ausreichen, dem kann mit Messenger Plus! Live  geholfen werden. Die kleine Erweiterung installiert sich automatisch in den Messenger und lässt sich anschließend über die dortige Menüleiste aufrufen. Wer Twitter nutzt, der soll dies über Twitters offizielle Clients tun. Clients anderer Anbieter sollen künftig nicht mehr zugelassen werden. Die Richtlinien zur Nutzung des Twitter-APIs wurden entsprechend angepasst.
Das Twitter-API und die darauf basierende vielfältige Landschaft an Software gilt als einer der großen Erfolgsfaktoren des Micro-Blogging-Dienstes. Nun hat Twitter jedoch eine einschneidende Veränderung der Richtlinien zur Nutzung des Twitter-APIs bekanntgegeben: Künftig werden keine alternativen Twitter-Clients mehr zugelassen.

Mit der zunehmenden Anzahl an Twitter-Nutzern sei eine konsistente "User Experience" wichtiger als jemals zuvor. So argumentierte Twitter bereits bei der Übernahme von Tweetie im vergangenen Jahr, woraus später der offizielle Twitter-Client für das iPhone wurde. Es folgten weitere offizielle Twitter-Clients für Mac, iPad, Android und Windows Phone. Zusammen mit RIM arbeitet Twitter an einem Twitter-Client für Blackberry.

So seien die offiziellen Twitter-Clients heute die populärsten Wege zum Zugriff auf Twitter, schreibt Ryan Sarver, der für das API zuständig ist. Dennoch gebe es noch immer Nutzer, die durch die fragmentierte Landschaft alternativer Twitter-Clients verwirrt seien. Schuld seien vor allem Webseiten und Clients, die Tweets entgegen Twitters Design-Richtlinien anzeigen und eigene Begriffe statt der offiziellen wie "Tweet", "Retweet" und "Follow" verwenden oder eigene Funktionen, um Nutzer und Trends zu ermitteln.

Um das zu ändern und für eine "konsistente User Experience" sollen Nutzer künftig in erster Linie über offizielle Twitter-Clients auf den Dienst zugreifen. Sarver machte es ganz deutlich: Entwickler sollten nicht versuchen, Client-Applikationen zu bauen, die ähnlich funktionieren wie die offiziellen Twitter-Clients.

Entwickler die bereits entsprechende Twitter-Clients anbieten, dürfen ihre bestehenden Kunden weiter bedienen, müssen sich aber an strenge Auflagen halten.

Twitters erklärtes Ziel ist es, die Zahl der Twitter-Clients zu reduzieren. Das passiere zugleich auch organisch, da Nutzer zunehmend die offiziellen Clients verwenden. Rund 90 Prozent der aktiven Twitter-Nutzer verwenden offizielle Twitter-Clients.

Statt eigene Twitter-Clients für die breite Masse anzubieten, sollen sich Entwickler auf Nischenlösungen rund um Twitter konzentrieren, rät Sarver. Als Beispiele nennt er Publisher-Werkzeuge wie SocialFlow, Mass Relevance und Sulia, Ranking-Dienste wie Klout und Syndizierer wie Gnip sowie CRM- und Unternehmenswerkzeuge wie HootSuite, CoTweet, Radian6, Seesmic und Crimson Hexagon. Auch Dienste wie Formspring und Foursquare, Instagram und Quora nutzen das Twitter-API im Sinne von Twitter. Nicht genannt in den Beispielen wird unter anderem Tweetdeck.

Twitter sorgt mit dieser Änderung für einen Aufschrei in der Entwicklergemeinde. Bereits die Veröffentlichung des ersten offiziellen Twitter-Clients für iOS sorgte unter Entwicklern für Unmut, da der bisherige Partner Twitter, von dem sie abhängig sind, zum übermächtigen Konkurrenten avancierte. Der aktuelle Schritt geht deutlich weiter, denn Twitter entzieht alternativen Twitter-Clients, die maßgeblich zum Erfolg des Diensten beigetragen haben, die Grundlage. (ji)

ChateX is a new client-server all in one chat program developed to operate quickly. This is the main program feature, it works fast under all conditions, it also features a fast file transfer which can be paused and resumed, transfer files up to 1000 GB, drag and drop files over a user name in the listbox and on the send textbox on private chat, chat logging, admin controls and other features a chat program needs.

ChateX also checks all data when it is received in the client or the server side and if it's not right it will be ignored in the client side and in the server side the user where the data was received from will be automatically kicked. The program can be customized and is useful through Internet and LAN.

KVIrc lässt sich mit der bordeigenen Scriptsprache KVS, basierend auf C++, sh, Perl, PHP und der mIRC-Scriptsprache MSL erweitern. Weiterhin kann man für Channel-, Query-, oder DCC-Verbindungen eine Verschlüsselung mittels Mircryption (kompatibel zu Blowfish) oder Rijndael aktivieren.
