BMP Wrap is a free tool which can temporarily convert any file into a valid BMP image, and restore the original file later. This is a familiar idea, but BMP Wrap does have one or two features that make it stand out. In particular, as a single 20KB executable, it’s probably the smallest steganography application I’ve ever seen.

Unsurprisingly for a program of this size, there’s no GUI. Just drag and drop a file onto BMP Wrap and the program will package it into a BMP of the same (Secret.docx gets you Secret.bmp, while the original file is untouched).

QuickStego allows you to get stealthy with your messages by hiding them within an image file.

Only people that have QuickStego can retrieve the message placed in the image. These messages are not encrypted by any means so if you want to add encryption you can do so with other encryption software for that added bit of security - we have a category full of them.

Once you have hidden text with QuickStego, the subsequently saved picture is still a 'picture' in every sense and will load like any other unaltered image. You can save the image then email it, upload it to the web or whatever you choose.

Embedded text is limited to the size of the picture selected for use with QuickStego.

SteganoG hides an encrypted file inside a Bitmap file, which acts as a carrier, also known as steganography. It uses a variety of possible algorithms including Blowfish, TEA, RC4, Skipjack and Twofish.

FileStegano is a very small, portable app to encrypt your personal files using a secret passphrase and then hide it inside a PDF or image file.

To hide a file, you choose the PDF, BMP. JPG or PNG on the left and the file to hide on the right. Choose your passphrase and click the HIDE button. To recover select the file, enter your passphrase and click RECOVER. You will be given a directory to recover to.

Pixeloid is a unique app to encode data into a Pixeloid matrix which can then be password protected.

Once installed, you are presented with a cartoonish interface that's simple for anyone to understand and use. You can create Pixeloid from a text, text file, image file. You can then password protect Pixeloids or retrieve data from a Pixeloid. You can also drop a Pixeloid into the windows.

Spy Picture allows you to add hidden text to an image.

This utility is a neat way to hide whatever type of text you want in an image AKA steganography. It can only be read when by those who you have shared the password for that image with and they will need to have the "Spy Picture" software installed on their computer.

To use Spy Picture, you select an image, input your desired text in, set your password and then the export image. The interface is actually set up with numerical steps to aid you along - not that it is too complex to figure out.
