Damit wird aber nur das angehängte Archiv verschlüsselt, nicht das Bild oder eine Mixtur.

Unter Steganographie versteht man normalerweise eine mehr oder weniger wirksame Tarnung der zusätzlichen Information, auch ohne eine Verschlüsselung im engeren Sinne.
Frühere einfache Lösungen modulierten dafür z.B. das LSB des Bildes, wie auch bei verdecktem Watermarking.

Davon kann hier also gar nicht die Rede sein, weil das Vorhandensein der angehängten Nutzlastkomponente maschinell (oder per Editor) sehr einfach festzustellen ist.
Dafür gibt es sogar schon lange auch schnelle statistische Strukturanalysen.
Davon ab, mal eben probiert:
verschlüsselte 7z haben mit unverschlüsselten gemeinsam den Header(-Anfang)

Und so kann es sehr gut sein, dass man mit dieser Methode erst recht schlafende Hunde weckt, selbst wenn eine aktivierte Verschlüsselung des Anhängsels (theoretisch) sehr stark wäre.

Gegen internationale Verbrecherbanden in staatlichem Auftrag hilft derlei sowieso nicht weiter.

This application uses steganography, an unbreakable encryption method using only images as your key; no password necessary. Just load an original image, enter your message inside the text editor or load your plain text document file, and click on the encryption button. Now save the encrypted image with your secret text inside with a different name as the original image.

All you have to do is make sure the other interested party has the same original image that you have when sending the encrypted image to them. This original image will be the key in unlocking your secret text message. When decrypting, just load the original image first, click on the Decrypt Image button, select the encrypted image, and that is it, your secret message will now be revealed in the text editor.

To further enhance security you can now open and save to three different types of image formats e.g. bmp, jpg, and emf. You can mix and match your images and you will still keep your text messages intact and secure.

HideMyFile helps you hide important files and even entire directories within an image, in order to prevent them from falling in the wrong hands.

The image is used as a mask for hiding documents and directories, which can be then transferred without raising suspicions. Naturally, HideMyFile can also be used for unhiding the files within a picture.
