The Chrome team is excited to announce the promotion of Chrome 25 to the Stable Channel. Chrome 25.0.1364.97 for Windows and Linux, and 25.0.1364.99 for Mac contain a number of new items including:

    Improvements in managing and securing your extensions
    Better support for HTML5 time/date inputs
    Javascript speech API support
    Better WebGL error handling
    And lots of other features for developers

We’d also like to thank Christian Holler, miaubiz and Atte Kettunen for working with us during the development cycle and preventing security regressions from ever reaching the stable channel. Rewards were issued.

Googles Browser Chrome soll künftig zeigen, welche Tabs gerade Ton abspielen. In aktuellen Entwicklerversionen kann die neue Funktion schon ausprobiert werden.

Wer oft viele Tabs offen hat, kennt vermutlich die Situation: Aus den Boxen dröhnt Ton, der von irgendeiner Webseite abgespielt wird, ohne dass man diesen einem Tab zuordnen kann. Dann gilt es, alle Tabs zu durchsuchen, um die Ruhestörer zu identifizieren, was nicht immer ganz einfach ist. Schuld sein können Videos, die ungefragt und mit Ton abgespielt werden, gegebenenfalls im nicht sichtbaren Bereich, oder eine Webseite mit Hintergrundmusik.

Die Entwickler von Googles Browser Chrome wollen das ändern: Künftig soll der Browser anzeigen, aus welchen Tabs gerade Ton kommt. Das im Tab angezeigte Favicon wird in diesem Fall animiert. Die Animation läuft mit geringer Priorität, damit sie sich nicht negativ auswirkt.


François Beaufort hat die Neuerung als Erster in einem Patch für Chrome entdeckt. Wer will, kann das Ganze schon jetzt ausprobieren, denn sowohl der aktuelle Carnary-Build von Chrome für Windows als auch die aktuelle Entwicklerversion von Chromium für Windows unterstützen die Favicon-Animation für lärmende Tabs. In Chrome funktioniert sie auch bei Flash-Inhalten, bei Chromium nur mit Inhalten, die der Browser direkt abspielt, beispielsweise HTML5-Videos.

Täusche ich mich oder hat Chrome bei den neuen Versionen die Höhen-Abstände der Bookmarks in der Liste vergrößert? Was vorher locker auf den Schirm passte, läuft jetzt unten raus. Das kam wohl im Rahmen der Touchscreen-Anpassungen, finde ich aber für Desktop-Benutzer absolut daneben!
Leider finde ich keinen Schalter, um das wieder zu beheben und es gibt auch im Netz nicht wirklich eine Lösung dafür.

    Fixed stability crashes [Issues: 167510, 165952, 177659, 177843]
