ChromeCacheView reads the cache folder of Google Chrome Web browser, and displays the list of all files currently stored in the cache. For each cache file, the following information is displayed: URL, Content type, File size, Last accessed time, Expiration time, Server name, Server response, and more.

Die Entwickler von Chromium, der Open-Source-Version von Chrome, wollen die heutztage üblichen, ungesicherten http-Verbindungen im Browser als unsicher markieren. https wäre dann der nicht weiter hervorzuhebende Standard. Nur Abweichungen davon – etwa in Form von ungesichertem http oder https-Seiten mit Fehlern – werden gekennzeichnet.

Derzeit sind ungesicherte http-Sitzungen der Normalfall. Verschlüsselte und authentifizierte https-Verbindungen werden von Browsern als zusätzlich gesichert markiert – etwa mit einem Schloss-Symbol und grünem Hintergrund der Adresszeile.

Anwender würden das Fehlen von Indikatoren sicherer Verbindungen, etwa dezente Farbänderungen in der Adresszeile, leicht übersehen, argumentiert das Chromium-Team. Daher sei ein Umdenken erforderlich, der Browser müsse vor nicht sicheren Verbindungen deutlich warnen.
