grepWin durchstöbert Dateien und Ordner nach komplexen Begriffen und regulären Ausdrücken. Die Freeware ersetzt auf Wunsch automatisch alle Suchtreffer auf einen Schlag.

Die Suchergebnisse werden in Listenform angezeigt. Ein Doppelklick auf die gewünschte Datei öffnet diese. Die Suche lässt sich mit grepWin mit diversen Parametern auf bestimmte Dateien eingrenzen. Häufig gesuchte Ausdrücke kann der Anwender als so genanntes Bookmark abspeichern. So lassen sich wiederkehrende Suchen mit ein paar Klicks erneut ausführen.

grepWin integriert sich auf Wunsch in das Kontextmenü des Windows Explorers, was das Durchsuchen von Dateien und Ordnern noch schneller und komfortabler macht. Unlike Windows search, Everything initially displays all files and folders on your computer. You simply type in part of the desired file name to limit what files and folders are displayed instantly. The more you type, the more specific the list becomes.

Limitations: Only works on NTFS-formatted drives, cannot search inside files, and only uses file and folder names in a file index. At startup, the program can take between 5 and 30 seconds to read available file catalogs.
