The CheckDiskGUI application was developed to be a Graphical User Interface for the commandline utility CHKDSK. It can display the file system integrity status of hard disks and floppy disk and can fix logical file system errors. It is similar to the fsck command in Unix operating systems that displays the file system integrity status for hard disks and floppy disk and can fix logical file system errors.

CHKDSK can also check the disk surface for physical errors or bad sectors, a task previously done by SCANDISK This version of CHKDSK can also handle some physical errors and recover data that is still readable.

Es kann eingesetzt werden um Zeitkorrekturen vorzunehmen, z.B.: bei falsch eingestellter Zeit auf der Digitalkamera, dem Computer, oder aus anderen wichtigen Gründen, oder einfach nur, um Spuren zu verwischen!
