The GParted team is proud to announce a new stable release of GParted Live.The big news with this release is the added ability to move, resize, check, create, and delete Physical Volumes under Logical Volume Management - LVM2 PV (bug #670171). The floppy is normally useless but if it exists, it might cause the disk detection delay. If floppy is required, a user still can run "modprobe floppy" to load it.* Catalan language was added. This version of Parted Magic brings all the Xorg packages up to date, adds Spanish language support, and a much improved Shut Down Menu.In the last release there were some issues with the Xorg 13 series. Some people were getting black screens. Reports have come in and most of this seems to be corrected by adjusting some udev rules, pulling a few Xorg drivers from git, and updating to the 3.7.5 Linux kernel.Lots of packages have been recompiled to add the Spanish locales. The syslinux menu has also been updated with Spanish language entries. Spanish is now very well supported in Parted Magic.The Shut Down Menu has been redesigned to be completely ran with or without the mouse. It can also be translated, though English and Spanish are the completed languages at this time.Lots of people were having trouble finding the panel menu button because it was simply the Parted Magic logo and it didn't look clickable. We replaced it with a familiar looking button typically found on most Smart Phones.You can now use the Clonezilla rescue iso option. Thanks to Steven Shiau for helping me get this working in Parted Magic.Firefox is updated to the latest 18.0.1 release.The CD Save Session routine now uses the Xfburn GUI instead of the command line tools with fixed options. This was reported to have improved performance.Last but not least, the versions have been mixed up a little bit again.pmagic_2013_01_29.iso: Both i686 and x86_64 kernels. The menu has been reworked so they can easily both be used on the same disk.pmagic_2013_01_29_i686.iso: This only has the i686 PAE SMP kernel.pmagic_2013_01_29_i586.iso: This kernel is compiled for i585 with PAE and SMP disabled.

Nomore linking them to /dev/sd[a-z]. Therefore now LVM on cciss device aresupported. Parted Magic 2013_02_28The Parted Magic project is proud to announce another stable release of the popular partitioning and system rescue environment. Since the last release many new improvements and updates have taking place.Parted Magic now supports booting from EFI BIOS. The kernel has been upgraded to Linux 3.7.9 with fixes for the bug bricking Samsung laptops using EFI and the samsung-laptop module. It's safe to use EFI and Parted Magic in this release. Thanks to Joe M. for this suggestion.* Command grub-install is no longer run for grub1 on an ext4 file system when grub-install is from Debian. This prevents a potential indefinite hang.* A prompt about skipping re-installing grub 1 in ocs-functions was improved.* For imaging/cloning partition mode, "-g auto" is no longer turned on by default. While it's still on for the imaging/cloning disk mode.* The progress bar for resize2fs was turned on when resizing the ext file system to fit the partition size.*** BUG FIXES **** Bugs where ocs-onthefly failed to use the "-k1" option and where ocs-tux-postprocess did not search LV were fixed.* A bug where there was no ocs-update-syslinux process in ocs-onthefly was fixed.
Release NotesThe big news with this release is the ability to track live updates of command execution progress. This should help with determining the status of long running commands by enabling users to see the live command output in the details section of the apply operations window. This new ability is implemented by a fundamental code change that spawns commands to run asynchronously. This release of Clonezilla live (2.1.1-25) includes minor enhancements and bug fixes.ENHANCEMENTS and CHANGES The underlying GNU/Linux operating system was upgraded. This release is based on the Debian Sid repository (as of 2013/Apr/20). Linux kernel was updated to 3.2.41-2. Partclone was updated to 0.2.60.drbl1. The package drbl was updated to 2.3.28-drbl1, and clonezilla was updated to 3.3.40-drbl1. Sample file "custom-ocs-1" was updated. A Dialog menu is used in the final action of Clonezilla live. The MAC address of a network card will be shown when configuring the network settings.BUG FIXES A bug which caused the first menu (start_clonezilla or enter_shell) to still continued even after it was cancelled. When using "select_in_client" mode, the postrun action is now correctly passed to PXE clients. A bug has been fixed which made cnvt-ocs-dev unable to convert cciss device names to sd[a-z]. Parted Magic 2013_05_01The Parted Magic project is proud to announce another stable release of the popular partitioning and system rescue environment. This has been by far the most ambitious release of Parted Magic to date. Take a look at all the new features and improvements!EFI booting support from CDROM has been greatly improved.Erase Disk has a new menu with translations.f2fs-tools has been added. You an also create a f2fs with GParted. The GParted team graciously excepted our patch and merged it with version 0.16.0 of GParted.A new “forcevesa” kernel command line option has been added. This works with cards like the MGA G200* series.The Parted Magic Wipe Free Space GUI has been translated.We have created a simple GTK+ GUI for chntpw. It should make changing Windows passwords much easier.The Xorg Server has been upgraded to 1.14.1 with all the latest Xorg drivers.SpaceFM now manages the desktop. You can now drag and drop icons to the desktop or /root/Desktop folders. The right click menu allows the creation of files and folders. That means you can keep your files on the desktop again. :)Jeex and Hexedit have been added to the SpaceFM right click “Open” menu. This makes it much easier to edit files directly. “Open terminal here” and “Show hidden files” have also been added to the right click menu.We have written a new program to help prepare USB drives for booting Parted Magic. It's called “USB Boot Flash”. This code was based off “bootflash” from Puppy Linux.Firefox has been upgraded to version 20.0.1.We wrote a new program called “Parted Magic Mount” and the fstab daemon has been completely redesigned. It works much faster and it's a lot more accurate then it ever has been. Because of the new design it polls every 5 seconds instead of 10. If a change is detected, the device probe and fstab changes are made in about 1 second on most machines.GParted has been upgraded to version 0.16.1. This version corrects the segfaults found in the 0.15.0 and 0.16.0 releases. It's been well tested by us and the GParted team.Clonezilla has been upgraded to version 3.3.10 and DRBL to version 2.3.10.There has also been a number of added programs: chkrootkit-0.49, gdmap-0.8.1, sg3_utils-1.35, jeex-12.0, xterm-291, rdesktop-1.7.1, putty-0.62, and f2fs-tools-1.1.0.The Linux kernel has been upgraded to version 3.8.10 with reiser4 support.The following programs have been removed: udisks, mount-gtk, Rox-filer, feh, and imlib.See the changelog for a complete list of updated packages. Another month of solid development is complete, it's time to release Parted Magic with a new look and a growing number improvements. After what seems like a good part of 5 years, Parted Magic has a new desktop wallpaper! Colin Skees put together the Steampunk/Tron theme for us and I have to say it is really cool. We came up with 2 sizes and probe for screen resolution, so it looks good on most machines.A lot of work went into Parted Magic Mount. It now auto refreshes and supports device mapper, smart phones, cameras, and Kindles. Most of the little quirks have been worked out and we honestly believe it is becoming one of the best GUI mount utilities available.Clonezilla has been updated to 3.3.40, drbl to 2.3.28, and partclone 0.2.61.On various blogs I have read the people need GParted to resize NTFS filesystems with bad sectors. So what we have done is patched GParted to support bad sectors in NTFS. The GParted team advises against this and we have to agree. The best solution was to have two GParted binaries. The GParted binary that resizes NTFS is located in the system section of the panel menu and is labeled “Resize NTFS with Bad Sectors”. It should be difficult to use the “wrong” one.You can now “lock” the screen. The screen locker is located in the right click desktop menu.The Erase Disk program now has logging.For those users that require RDP access, Remmina has been added to the desktop.As always Parted Magic comes with a large number of program updates. The Linux kernel was updated to 3.8.13, all the latest Xorg drivers, and a large number of core programs.Take a look at the changelog for the full list of program updates and changes.
