Die Option use_hierarchy in der config.php wurde aus Gründen der Abwärtskompatibilität wieder eingefügt. Dies wird eventuell in zukünftigen Versionen entfallen, da es dadurch schwierig wird, für Module Pretty URLs zu erstellen, aber wir haben dafür Abhilfe geschaffen.

Für den 4.1er Ast der Typo3-Entwicklung wird es ab sofort keine Fehlerbeseitigung mehr geben. Wer das Open-Source-Content-Management-System nutzt, sollte deshalb auf eine neuere Release umsteigen. François Suter empfiehlt auf typo3.org die aktuelle und stabile Version 4.4.2. Von der Version 4.2 rät das Download-Verzeichnis schon ab, während es 4.3 noch als "old stable" bezeichnet.

Das Content Management Framework Kajona ist in Version 3.3.1 verfügbar. Neben einem vollständig neuen Caching-Mechanismus für das Portal bietet die neue Version, Codename »suricate«, auch eine initiale Unterstützung von SQLite 3 sowie erweiterte Beispielinhalte.

dem vor allem der Charakteristik von Web 2.0-Seiten Rechnung getragen werden soll. Wurde bisher eine angeforderte Seite als Ganzes im Cache abgelegt, so erfolgt das Caching nun bereits auf Ebene der Seitenelemente. Enthält eine Seite Elemente mit sich oft verändernden Inhalten wie einem Zufallsbild oder einer interaktiven Abstimmung, so konnte die Seite im Gesamten bisher nie oder nur für einen kurzen Zeitraum zwischengespeichert werden. Durch das Verlagern des Cachings auf die Ebene der Elemente lässt sich dieses Problem optimieren: Statische Elemente werden aus dem Cache ausgeliefert, dynamische Elemente neu erzeugt.

Der verbesserte Effekt des Cachings soll sich spürbar bemerkbar machen. Um diesen Effekt zu nutzen, wird der neue Cache bereits während der Installation aktiviert und mit sinnvollen Werten parametrisiert.

Erstmals unterstützt Kajona 3.3.1 auch die Datenbank SQLite in Version 3. Da es sich hier noch um eine erste Version des Treibers handelt, wird ein Einsatz in produktiven Umgebungen allerdings nicht empfohlen. Für lokale Installationen kann der Treiber jedoch laut Aussagen des Herstellers »bedenkenlos« verwendet werden. Mit der Aufnahme von SQLite3 vergrößert sich die Liste der von Kajona unterstützten Datenbanken auf MySQL 4 und 5 (per mysql- & mysqli-Schnittstelle), PostgreSQL sowie SQLite 2 und 3.

Die Handhabung des in Kajona integrierten Portaleditors wurde in der neuen Version erneut überarbeitet. So ist es nun auch möglich, Newsmeldungen direkt im Portal zu erstellen. Ferner wurden die Beispielinhalte ausgebaut und sollen nun vor allem neuen Benutzern als Basis für die eigene Webseite dienen. Eine Liste aller Änderungen kann dem Changelog entnommen werden.

Kajona steht unter den Bedingungen der GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) Version 2.1 und kann von der Seite des Projektes heruntergeladen werden.

In der gerade freigegebenen Version 4 des Open-Source Content-Management-Systems Plone haben die Entwickler eine höhere Leistung erreicht, ein neues Erscheinungsbild (Theme) vorgesehen, den Speicherbedarf reduziert sowie eine bessere Benutzer- und Gruppenverwaltung umgesetzt.

Außerdem gibt es weitere Verbesserungen sowie dynamische Formulare auf Basis der JavaScript-Bibliothek jQuery. Und mit einem Update der zugrunde liegenden Infrastruktur ist bereits ein Schritt in Richtung Version 5 getan.

Das von der Plone Foundation verantwortete Paket steht für Windows, Linux/BSD und MacOS X zum Download bereit.

Die Community-Version des Java-basierten Content-Management-Systems (CMS) Alfresco wurde in Version 3.4 veröffentlicht. Alfresco 3.4 beinhaltet neue Werkzeuge und Services für Spring-Entwickler sowie Web Quick Start und eine einfache Möglichkeit zur Veröffentlichung von Webseiten in Enterprise-Portalen.

Bei Web Quick Start handelt es sich um eine Sammlung bereits fertiger Templates, die Anwender zur Erstellung ihrer Webseiten nutzen können. Zu Quick Start gehören darüber hinaus auch noch Services, die Autoren und Redakteuren die Arbeit erleichtern sollen, etwa ein In-Context-Web-Editor. Anwender, die mit Microsoft-Office arbeiten, können mittels einer neuen API, die das Microsoft’s Office SharePoint Protocol und CIFS versteht, ihre Texte in ihrer Textverarbeitung erstellen und daraus sofort veröffentlichen.

Alfresco 3.4 wurde mit Hilfe der Java-Frameworks Spring und SpringSurf erstellt und bietet nun eine OpenCMIS-Schnittstelle (Open Content Management Interoperability Services), über die sich Inhalte verwalten und in beliebige andere Web-Applikationen integrieren lassen sollen. Neue DocLib-Portlets erlauben es, Alfresco in Enterprise-Portale wie Liferay, Quickr oder Confluence zu integrieren, eine verteilte Inhalts-Replikation macht es möglich, dass Institutionen, die Alfresco einsetzen, mehrere Inhaltsrepositories unterhalten können.

Alfresco hat die aktuelle Version des CMS mit MySQL 5.1.39 und PostgreSQL 8.4.1, den Applikationenservern Tomcat 6.0.18 und JBoss 5.1.0.GA, JDK 1.6 u20 x64 und RHEL5-64bit sowie Windows Server 2008 64Bit getestet. Die aktuelle Alfresco Community-Version 3.4 kann von der Alfresco-Webseite herunter geladen werden. Alle Neuerungen stellt Alfresco in einem Webinar am 12. Oktober vor.

Neue Funktionen und Module sowie eine überarbeitete Benutzeroberfläche zeichnen die kommende Version des freien Content-Management-Systems (CMS) Drupal aus. Eine erste Beta von Drupal 7 ist ab sofort verfügbar.

Das Open-Source-Content-Management-System Drupal erhält in seiner neuen Version zahlreiche Verbesserungen in verschiedenen Bereichen und auch einige komplett neue Module. Die Benutzeroberfläche wurde von Grund auf überarbeitet, so dass die Bedienung von Drupal 7 einfacher wird.

Durch Tests mit Nutzern wurden im Vorfeld der Entwicklung die zehn wichtigsten Usability-Mängel der Software ermittelt, was als Grundlage für die Verbesserungen diente. So lag der Schwerpunkt der Entwicklung von Drupal 7 bei der Verbesserung der Benutzeroberfläche, damit es auch technisch weniger versierte Benutzer verwenden können. So soll das Erstellen und Wiederfinden von Inhalten einfacher sein, und es gibt eine klare optische Trennung des Administrationsbereichs vom Frontend.

Deutlich erweitert wurde das Drupal-7-Basispaket. Funktionen, die zuvor in Form von Erweiterungsmodulen integriert wurden, sind in Drupal 7 Bestandteil der Grundversion, ohne dass dabei das modulare Konzept des Systems aufgegeben wird. Dabei ist es nun möglich, Erweiterungsmodule direkt über die Benutzeroberfläche zu installieren.

Zu den weiteren Neuerungen zählen RDFa-Unterstützung, eine wesentlich bessere Skalierbarkeit des Systems sowie ein eingebautes Test-Framework.

Die Verwendung der Abstraktionsschicht PHP Data Objects (PDO) wird die Anbindung beliebiger Datenbanken wie etwa Mongo DB, MS-SQL oder Oracle möglich machen.

Eine erste Beta von Drupal 7 steht ab sofort unter drupal.org zum Download bereit. Sie unterstützt bereits ein Upgrade von Drupal 6 auf die neue Version 7. Eine detaillierte Übersicht der Neuerungen findet sich im Changelog.
