Der plattformübergreifende Audio-Player Clementine ist an das bekannte Linux-Programm Amarok angelehnt. Die Entwickler setzen den Fokus auf eine übersichtliche Bedienoberfläche und leistungsfähige Suchfunktion. Das Programm spielt sowohl die Musik von der eigene Festplatte, als auch von verschiedenen Internetquellen wie Google Drive, Spotify, SoundCloud oder Last.fm ab. Der Nutzer erstellt dynamische Wiedergabelisten, welche in Tabs angezeigt werden und sich im M3U-, XSPF-, PLS- sowie ASX-Format im- und exportieren lassen. Clementine ruft Fotos und Biografien der Künstler sowie Liedtexte ab. Es unterstützt die Formate MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Ogg Speex, FLAC sowie AAC und konvertiert zwischen diesen. Metadaten lassen sich ebenfalls bearbeiten, fehlende Tags und Cover lädt das Programm aus dem Internet nach. Zusätzlich lässt sich Clementine zum Kopieren von Musik auf mobile Geräte nutzen, darunter auch iPhone und iPod.

This version only contains some very essential fixes and changes compared to 2.7.0:

A modification in handling MusicBrainz ID tags was needed to avoid problems with falsely duplicate tracks.
We fixed a weird behaviour when the "Use Music Location?" question is answered "Yes" on the first run.
We now have worked around the QtWebkit ↔ GStreamer bug that caused frequent crashes on track start; this happened if the Wikipedia applet tried to load a page containing an audio tag.
The database is now also created if the home directory contains non-ASCII characters.
The Nepomuk Collection now also shows track numbers.

Der zum KDE-Projekt gehörige Audioplayer Amarok ist in der Version 2.8 (»Return To The Origin«) erschienen. Amarok steht unter der GPL und ist für diverse Betriebssysteme verfügbar.

Die auffälligste Änderung in Amarok 2.8 ist die Rückkehr zu Oberflächenelementen der Version 1.x, die bei vielen Nutzern offenbar so beliebt waren, dass Amarok mit der alten Nutzeroberfläche (v1.4) in das Projekt Clementine geforkt wurde. Die Musikabspielanwendung erhielt ein neues Audio-Analysator-Visualisierungs-Applet und blendet den Ton aus, wenn Anwender die Audiowiedergabe pausieren. Der Dateibrowser ist jetzt mit einer Schaltfläche zum Aktualisieren des Verzeichnisinhalts ausgestattet und das Oberflächenlayout lässt sich schnell in den Standardzustand zurückversetzen. Werden Audiostücke zu einer Sammlung hinzugefügt, ist es nun erlaubt, nur Dateien mit bestimmten Eigenschaften (Format, Spielbarkeit) zu transkodieren.

Pressing the close button on the window sends a close event, where other methods of exiting visualization just hide the window. If shown again after close, the window will be empty. To fix this, handle and reject the close event. Call hide instead.
